AIUB organized International Conference on Challenges and Trends in Arts and Social Sciences

The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences of American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) commenced the International Conference on Challenges and Trends in Arts and Social Sciences (ICCTASS 2025) on 11 December 2025. The event, held under the theme “Sustainability, Creativity and Ethics: Insights into Interdisciplinary Perspectives and Practices,” brought together esteemed academics, researchers, and professionals in the field of arts and social sciences.

Her Excellency Nina P. Cainglet, Philippine Ambassador to Bangladesh, graced the inaugural session as chief guest and Dr. Carmen Z. Lamagna, Member of the Board of Trustees and Patron of the Conference and Prof. Dr. Saiful Islam, Vice Chancellor of AIUB, graced the occasion as the special guest. Prof. Dr. Tazul Islam, General Chair of the conference and Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences wished the conference a stellar success and Prof. Dr. Md. Asif Kamal, Organizing Chair of ICCTASS 2025 delivered the welcome speech.

The two-day conference featured 6 keynote sessions led by internationally recognized scholars, including Lilian W. Mina (University of Alabama at Birmingham), Prof. Dr. Zhen (Peter) Ye (Xiamen University/UCL), Taberez Ahmed Neyazi (National University of Singapore), Prof. Dr. Hayward Derrick Horton (University at Albany, SUNY), and Prof. Dr. Shaila Sultana (BRAC Institute of Languages).

In addition to keynote presentations, ICCTASS 2025 hosted a series of on-site and online parallel 294 paper presentation sessions, offering a platform for scholars to disseminate research in diverse domains of the humanities and social sciences. Poster presentations and an information session on the Fulbright Visiting Scholar Program—conducted by Ms. Raihana Sultana of the U.S. Embassy Dhaka—further enriched the academic engagement.

The first panel, “AI, Ethics, Education, and Legal Frameworks: Insights into Sustainable Future,” featured prominent experts including Prof. Mashrur Shahid Hossain, Prof. Dr. Saiful Alam Chowdhury, Prof. Dr. Akash Deep Muni, Dr. Robayet Ferdous Syed, Dr. Priyadarshini Muthukrishnan, and Dr. Abu Saleh Md Rafi, moderated by Mr. Theotonius Gomes. The second panel, “Leveraging Sustainable Development on the Synergies of Health and Socio-Economic Discourses,” includes contributions from Mr. Gawher Nayeem Wahra, Dr. Fahmida Khatun, Professor Sartik Bagh, and Dr. Mohsin Ali, under the moderation of Dr. Sabuktagin Rahman.

The conference was formally concluded on 12 December 2025 with a Closing Session led by Chief Guest Ms. Nadia Anwar, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, AIUB. 10 Special mention awards were presented to distinguished participants, followed by a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Faria Sultana, Organizing Secretary of ICCTASS 2025 and Associate Professor, Department of Economics.
