PriyoShop, Bangladesh’s leading B2B smart distribution platform, has partnered with InsightGenie and Community Bank Bangladesh PLC to launch the country’s first AI-powered Alternative Credit Scoring system for MSMEs. The innovative model uses demographic data, purchase data, psychometric insights, and user behavior analytics to deliver real-time, fairer credit evaluation.
Bangladesh is home to more than 5 million retailers, yet a large portion remain excluded from formal banking due to lack of collateral or conventional documentation. This pioneering initiative is set to transform access to finance by leveraging PriyoShop’s retailer data, advanced AI, and Community Bank’s financial expertise.
Millions of small businesses remain excluded from formal banking due to lack of collateral or conventional documentation. Combined with InsightGenie’s AI engine, the system not only evaluates the capacity to repay but also the willingness to repay. Through a secure eKYC process, Community Bank is able to extend flexible credit facilities ranging from one month to three months, tailored to boost retailer purchasing power and working capital. Under this initiative, PriyoShop retailers will be eligible for credit facilities of up to USD 500, helping small shopkeepers expand stock, increase turnover, and grow sustainably.
Consider Rony, a small retailer with high growth potential but no access to formal finance. Traditional banks could not assess him due to a lack of banking history or paperwork. Through PriyoShop’s platform and InsightGenie’s AI-driven alternative scoring, Community Bank became the first bank to recognize his true potential. Today, Rony has access to USD 500 in credit to purchase more stock from PriyoShop enabling him to grow his business, serve more customers, and secure a better livelihood for his family.
Kimiwa Saddat, Managing Director of Community Bank Bangladesh, said: “Community Bank is proud to pioneer this innovation with PriyoShop and InsightGenie. MSMEs are the backbone of Bangladesh’s economy, and by equipping them with smarter financial tools, we are strengthening their ability to thrive and contribute to the nation’s long-term growth.”
At the heart of the initiative is Asikul Alam Khan, Founder & CEO of PriyoShop. With over two decades in the startup ecosystem, Khan has dedicated his career to empowering small retailers through digital innovation. “I started PriyoShop with a simple belief that the micro and small shopkeepers powering our economy deserve access to the same opportunities as large businesses. This AI-powered credit scoring system makes that vision real, creating fair access to finance for the underserved”, Khan said.
Vincent Choy, Founder of InsightGenie, said: “Our AI model moves beyond paperwork to recognize real potential. By integrating psychometric analysis, purchase behavior, and user data, we are providing MSMEs with credit evaluations that are as dynamic as their businesses.”
The agreement was formalized with key officials from all three organizations, including Asikul Alam Khan (CEO, PriyoShop), Vincent Choy (Founder, InsightGenie), Kimiwa Saddat (Managing Director, Community Bank), along with senior officials from both PriyoShop and Community Bank.
This collaboration sets a new benchmark for fintech innovation in Bangladesh, merging traditional banking expertise with modern AI-driven insights. By bridging data, AI, and finance, PriyoShop, InsightGenie, and Community Bank are reshaping the future of financial inclusion and ensuring that every MSME has access to the tools they need to grow and succeed.
