BRAC University, BRAC and Bangladesh Sustainability Alliance launch “Net Zero Project and Plastic-Free Zero-Waste Campus” initiative

BRAC University, in collaboration with BRAC and Bangladesh Sustainability Alliance (BSA), launched a “Net Zero Project and Plastic-Free Zero-Waste Campus” initiative on the university’s Merul Badda campus today (Monday, 17 February 2025). The initiative seeks to transform BRAC University into a zero-waste, plastic-free campus by implementing key interventions, including enhanced recycling programs, elimination of single-use plastics, and promotion of sustainable alternatives. Implementing practical solutions to reducing plastic pollution is the key target of the BSA, a platform of entities such as BRAC, Unilever, Standard Chartered Bangladesh, PRAN-RFL Group and Marico Bangladesh formed in November 2023. Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition 2025 held at AIUB

The grand finale and closing ceremony of the 9th Bangladesh Qualifying Rounds of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition 2025 took place on 8th February at the American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB). The event, organized by Jessup Bangladesh in association with International Law Students Association (ILSA), Hearth Bangladesh, and American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB). This year’s qualifying round featured highest ever participation, with 44 teams from leading universities across Bangladesh competing for the prestigious title. 89% of IT Leaders Concerned About GenAI Flaws Affecting Cyber Security, Says Sophos Survey

Sophos, a global leader of innovative security solutions for defeating cyber-attacks released a new report, “Beyond the Hype: The Businesses Reality of AI for Cyber security,” which surveyed 400 IT leaders on their use of AI in security. The survey found that, despite 65% having adopted generative artificial intelligence (GenAI capabilities) 89% of IT leaders are concerned that flaws in GenAI cyber security tools could put their organization at risk. Additionally, according to new Sophos X-Ops research, “Cybercriminals Still Not Getting on Board the AI Train (Yet),” released recently, there has been a slight but noteworthy shift in how cybercriminals use AI. The American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) organized an interactive educational field visit recently for its Masters of Public Health (MPH) students to enhance their practical understanding of occupational health practices. Forty-five students visited three factories under Reedisha Industries Limited located in Gazipur — Reedisha Knitex, Reedisha Food & beverage, and Formula One Spinning — where students engaged with industry experts, explored workplace health and safety challenges, and asked about occupational hazards and its prevention. The visit provided invaluable hands-on experience, culminating in preparing hazard analysis reports, and showcasing AIUB’s dedication to preparing skilled public health professionals to address real-world public health practice which goes with AIUB’s outcome-based curriculum. Milestone Credit Transfer Agreement Signed Between SAE University College, Australia, and Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology

A milestone Credit Transfer Arrangement (CTA) Agreement was signed today between SAE University College, Australia, and Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology (SMUCT), Bangladesh.
