UIU hosts second undergraduate research symposium

The School of Business and Economics (SoBE) at United International University (UIU) hosted the second Undergraduate Research Symposium (URS) 2024 on January 13, 2025, at the UIU Campus in Dhaka.

Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan, Vice Chancellor of the University of Dhaka, graced the event as Chief Guest, while Professor Emeritus Dr. M. Rezwan Khan, Executive Director of UIU Institute for Advanced Research, attended as Special Guest. UIU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Abul Kashem Mia presided over the ceremony. The welcome address was given by Prof. Dr. Mohd. H. R. Joarder, Convenor of URS-2024, with a vote of thanks from Prof. Dr. Mohammad Musa, Dean of SoBE.

The symposium aimed to cultivate a research culture among undergraduate students in business education. Over 100 students from public and private universities participated, with the top 10 teams presenting their research papers. The top papers in each domain were awarded BDT 1,00,000, BDT 60,000, and BDT 40,000 for the champion, first runner-up, and second runner-up, respectively.

In Domain 1, the champion team was Ramisa Rutbata Hossain Avantika and Rajin Al-Tanjim Bhuiyan from UIU. Domain 2 champions included Muhtasim Ahamed Chowdhury from UIU.

Prof. Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan emphasised the significance of research in national development and encouraged students to pursue research for future academic success. The event was attended by academics, government officials, researchers, and students.
