ISU Inaugurates First Batch of Master of Public Health Program

International Standard University (ISU) has inaugurated the first batch of its Master of Public Health (MPH) program through a grand ceremony held on Friday at the university’s Mohakhali campus. The event marked an important milestone in ISU’s commitment to advancing higher education and public health leadership in Bangladesh.
ISU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Abdul Awal Khan attended as chief guest. In his speech, he highlighted the significance of public health education in building a stronger healthcare system. “This program will equip students with the skills and knowledge to become competent public health professionals and researchers who can contribute meaningfully to both national and global health initiatives,” he said.
Students of the first batch expressed their enthusiasm and commitment to improving healthcare services in Bangladesh. They noted that the MPH program would provide modern knowledge, research capacity, and practical skills, enabling them to play a transformative role in the country’s health sector.
The ceremony was presided over by Dr. Fahmida Binte Mesbah, Head of the Department of Public Health. Distinguished guests included Prof. H.T.M. Quader Newaz, Treasurer of ISU; Professor Dr. Manzur Morshed Mahmud, Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies; Prof. Md. Abul Kashem, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology and Faculty of Health Sciences; public health specialists Prof. Dr. Shafiqul Islam and Prof. Dr. Shahanaz Chowdhury. The welcome address was delivered by Professor Mohammad Ali.
The first batch of students represents leading hospitals, clinics, and institutions across Bangladesh, reflecting the program’s wide appeal and national significance. Faculty members, students, and officials joined to celebrate the occasion, which set the stage for ISU’s vision of preparing the next generation of public health leaders.
