AIUB Hosts Seminar on “Prospects of Bioequivalence Studies in the Pharmaceutical Industry of Bangladesh”

The Department of Pharmacy, Faculty of Health and Life Sciences, American International University–Bangladesh (AIUB), successfully organized a seminar titled “Prospects of Bioequivalence Studies in the Pharmaceutical Industry of Bangladesh” on 20 November 2025 at AIUB. The event brought together leading experts from the pharmaceutical and biomedical research sectors to discuss the growing importance of bioequivalence (BE) studies in ensuring drug quality, therapeutic reliability, and regulatory compliance in Bangladesh. The Welcome Address was delivered by Prof. Dr. Md. Siddiqul Islam, Head, Department of Pharmacy, AIUB.
The Keynote Speech was delivered by Mr. Mohammad Mizanur Rahman, General Manager, Incepta Pharmaceuticals Ltd., who highlighted the significance of BE studies in strengthening the credibility of locally manufactured medicines in both domestic and international markets. Mr. Wasim Haider, Senior Manager, Beximco Pharmaceuticals Ltd., discussed the operational and regulatory challenges faced by the industry in conducting BE studies, emphasizing the need for advanced facilities and skilled human resources. Prof. Dr. Abu Syed Md. Mosaddek, Head of the Department of Pharmacology, Uttara Adhunik Medical College, and CEO of QUEST Bangladesh Biomedical Research Center, spoke about the research landscape in Bangladesh, opportunities for expanding BE studies, and the role of academic–industry collaboration in driving pharmaceutical innovation. The program concluded with Closing Remarks by Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman, Pro Vice Chancellor, AIUB, who expressed his appreciation to the speakers and reaffirmed AIUB’s commitment to contributing to Bangladesh’s pharmaceutical advancement through education, research, and industry partnerships.
