‘Let’s Talk Football’ Held at AIUB with Argentine Ambassador

American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) hosted a special session titled “Let’s Talk Football” with His Excellency Mr. Marcelo Carlos Cesa, Ambassador of the Argentine Republic to Bangladesh, on September 3, 2026, at the AIUB campus.
Organized under the theme “Football Collaboration Through Youth Eyes: Exploring Sports Diplomacy and International Collaboration,” the session highlighted the role of football in promoting youth engagement, cultural exchange, sports diplomacy, and international collaboration.
During the youth dialogue, Ambassador Marcelo Carlos Cesa shared insights into Argentina’s rich football heritage and emphasized the importance of sports in building connections among young people and nations. AIUB’s male and female student footballers also participated in the session, engaging in a dialogue with the Ambassador on football, youth development, and opportunities for international collaboration through sports.
As part of the visit, a friendly football match was organized between teams representing Argentina and Brazil, which was inaugurated by Ambassador Marcelo Carlos Cesa.
A strategic meeting was also held between the Ambassador and representatives of AIUB to explore potential areas of collaboration between AIUB and the Embassy of Argentina, particularly in youth development, sports, cultural exchange, and international collaboration.
The event was attended by representatives of AIUB, including Ms. Nadia Anwar, Founder Member and Chairman, Board of Trustees, AIUB; Prof. Dr. Saiful Islam, Vice Chancellor; Prof. Dr. Md. Abdur Rahman, Pro-Vice Chancellor; Group Captain (Retd.) Dr. Mohammad Zahidul Islam Khan, Registrar; Dr. S. A. M. Manzur H. Khan; Abu Mia Akanda Tuhin; Joynal Abedin; and Saadi Islam.
The visit concluded with a shared commitment to exploring meaningful avenues for collaboration through football, youth engagement, cultural exchange, and sports diplomacy, further strengthening the bonds between Argentina and Bangladesh through the universal language of football.
