ISU Organizes Seminar on 'Public Health Career: Scope and Opportunities'

International Standard University (ISU) hosted a seminar titled “Public Health Career: Scope and Opportunities” on Thursday at its Mohakhali campus. The event was organized by the university’s Master of Public Health (MPH) program.
Professor Dr. Muhammad Aziz Rahman, Professor of Public Health and Associate Dean (Research) at Federation University, Australia, and Vice President of the Public Health Association of Australia, attended the seminar as the keynote speaker.
In his address, Dr. Rahman emphasized the critical importance of research-driven approaches in public health. He stated that policies, programs and interventions must be grounded in scientific evidence to accurately identify community health challenges and develop effective, sustainable solutions. He further noted that public health is not only a field of professional advancement but also a meaningful avenue for contributing to social welfare and national development.
The session was presided over by Dr. Fahmida Binte Mesbah, Head of the Department of Public Health at ISU. Professor Md. Abul Kashem, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, delivered the welcome remarks.
Also present were Professor Dr. Md. Ekramul Hoque, Director of IQAC; public health expert Professor Dr. Shahanaz Chowdhury; ISU Registrar Mohammad Faizullah Kawshik; along with chairpersons of various departments, faculty members and administrative officials.
Dr. Rahman, who brings more than two decades of experience in research, education and academic leadership, has been recognised among the world’s top two percent scientists in the Stanford University global ranking from 2020 to 2025, reflecting his significant contributions to global public health research.
